Tasmania Gordon UpRun
Length 5.9 Km
The first 1.6 km is steep to extremely steep, going over the crest of the mountain, down steep, rough 2 track, turn around, back up, and turn into lovely forest run, and end on the starting hill, only a very fast downhill. A very exciting run.
Tasmania Gordon DownRun
Length 6.1 Km
Starting on a 150m downhill, followed by 400m extremely steep uphill, turn around and enjoy a very fast, long, variably steep downhill on gravelly narrow single track road for 2.8km, and ending on the same downhill, in the uphill direction, wishing it was still the downhill. Turning around at the bottom After running the long downhill, one’s quads feel like jelly, but the trudging up restores you over the first km. An exhausting, but exciting, restorative run.
Gordon, Tasmania forest trail loop1
Length 12.8 Km
Road/trail running through forest. First 1.6km is extremely steep uphill, followed by a variably steep downhill till the turnaround point.
Because of the long consistent downhill, the return journey is quite difficult, as the uphill gradient feels much steeper the the same downhill gradient.
The last 1,6km, now very steep downhill, is pleasantly fast.
One finds it difficult to run slower than a 3’30”/km.
The hardest aspect of this run is the small, almost round grit used as the topping on this gravel surface. You are constantly rolling as you run.
