Holyrood Park
Length 5.3 Km
Holyrood Park is a hilly public park with a 5 miles radius close to Edinburgh Old Town. It is 251m high at its peak where Arthur’s Seat is.
A rather challenging hike/walk up for first timers actually. It has volcanic cliff faces, steep pathways, mini lochs, and a hillside ruin (St. Anthony's Chapel). It has both the rugged and natural landscape iconic across Scotland. A freshwater Loch, Duddingston Loch is about midway up the top.
It takes about half-an-hour from the Queen's Drive on the inner ring road to the top. The top offers excellent views of Edinburgh. Whether it’s a run or a walk it’s a definitely great work out.
The Meadows
Length 1.6 Km
The Meadows is located at Melville Drive, south of Edinburgh near the city centre. It is one of the most important open spaces in Edinburgh. It is about 3 km if you go round the perimeter of the park. There are however tree lined paths criss crossing the park from one end to the other.
The park used to be a large Loch long ago before it was converted to a park. It is now a large open grassland which has a children's playground, a croquet club, tennis courts and recreational sport pitches. there are plenty of benches and picnic tables by around the park. Large trees that give shelters on the main tracks and beautifully lined trees along the side paths.

Wow! What ecstatic reward for my venture outdoors on this chilly day.
I started off on a fairly level paved suburban pathway following from my memory of a bus journey towards Blackford way. It was nearer than I anticipated and certainly much quicker on my feet than on bus as within 30 minutes of slow walking, I saw the gated children’s play area on the other side of the road.
I walked along the picturesque duck / swan pond and inquired from other returning walkers whether the gate gets shut, but I was assured that it is not with the exception of the Observatory. I enjoyed the calm Liberty of the ducks & swans gliding gracefully in their natural habitat, while others relaxed on a designated island sanctuary; beautiful sight.
There were isolated walkers, a few with their exuberant but well behaved canine pets, some hardy trail runners and seasoned hikers as I ventured further up the steep slope of the hill, where the cold wind almost knocked my breath out of me. I felt a rush of excited adrenaline hit me as my eyes feasted on the view from atop the hill; majestically sexy! Humbling & awesome! I just stood there soaking up the wonder out scene in dazed wonder.
At the observatory and visitor centre, there were a few cars and scattered dog walkers, and a road network leading into the houses below and into the main road.
I avoided taking the road as there didn’t seem to be much room for pedestrian and went back up past the observatory and headed downhill.
There are other routes up the hill that I will explore on my next visit.
Eyes onto Holyrood, again!

I like My Mondays!
After being given a thorough eye checkup, I sought to put them to the test by heading out to to Holyrood via Morningside road veering away from the recreational scenes if the Links & the Meadows.... enjoyed playing up and around the hills, discovering new routes, which led me to go down the Medical road..... busy with runners, walkers, big & small, two & four legged.... still didn’t venture onto the apex of Arthur’s seat as it was getting dark, but gives me opportunity to go there again

A Edinburgh i percorsi sono ben segnalati. Si trova sulla Ciclabile che va verso Trinity da Center City. La ciclabile deve essere la n 14. Interseca in più punti la 75.
