Vijayawada (formerly called Bezawada) is city in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It lies on the banks of Krishna in Krishna district. It is one of the twelve urban local bodies and is a highly developed area in the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region The city is also the second largest by population in the state and third most densely populated urban built-up areas in the world.
