Center Canal and its lifts - UNESCO World heritage
Length 12.5 Km
The trail starts at the Strépy-Thieux’s lift. The difference between the upper and lower deck is about 70 m (+/- 210 feet) height. It was finished in 2002, which then deviated the traffic from the old to the new canal.
Lifts on the old canal were built at the end of the XIX and finished at the beginning of the XX century. The old canal is now used for leisure and is part of the UNESCO world heritage. The trail goes through the 3 old different lifts.
