Dusseldorf parks and new residential areas

Kiefernstraße ( pronounced ['ki:fɐn'ʃtra:sə]) is a street in the Flingern-Süd district of Düsseldorf that became notorious in the 1980s for squatting. In the mid-1980s there were connections to the Baader–Meinhof Gang. Nowadays, the former squatters have regular leases.

Düsseltal is a borough of Düsseldorf with a rather well-off population and developed around an old convent. It is also known as Düsseldorf-Zoo (after Düsseltal's S-Bahn station), because, until 1943, there was a zoological garden in Düsseltal. The word Düsseltal is German for the valley of the river Düssel.

Düsseldorf Zoo station is located about two kilometre north of Düsseldorf Hauptbahnhof in central Düsseldorf in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. It is on the Cologne–Duisburg line and is classified by Deutsche Bahn as a category 4 station. The station is defined by Deutsche Bahn as a Haltepunkt (roughly "halt") as it is not a junction and has no crossovers.

On 9 March 2017, a suspect was detained after an axe attack that injured nine persons. The attack began on a train and continued in the main train station in Düsseldorf, Germany. Although the suspect's injuries were too severe to permit investigators to question him, authorities do not see a connection to terrorism.
