The Butte-aux-Cailles (a name that could be translated into "quail hill", although it originates from its former landowner Pierre Caille, who bought a vineyard here in 1543) is a hilltop neighbourhood of Paris, France located in Paris' south-eastern 13th arrondissement. A now extinct river, the Bièvre (from Latin 'Beaver'), once made this area important for the tannery and tissue trades.

Halle Georges Carpentier is a multi-use indoor sporting arena that is located in the 13th arrondissement of Paris, France. The arena can be used for multiple sporting events, including: boxing, martial arts, badminton, table tennis, volleyball, handball, fencing, basketball, and gymnastics. It is part of a sports complex that also includes a gym and football, rugby, and athletics facilities.

Les Olympiades is a district of residential towers located in the 13th arrondissement of Paris, France. Built from 1969 to 1974, the district consists of a dozen towers built along a huge esplanade, elevated eight metres from the ground, that is dedicated to pedestrians. A shopping mall, known as the Pagode, stands at the centre of the esplanade.

Italie 13 (or Italie XIII) is the name of a large urbanism project in Paris which started in the 1960s and was interrupted in the 1970s. Its purpose was to profoundly modify the structure of some areas of the 13th arrondissement, mainly around the Avenue d'Italie which inspired its name. The partially completed project led to the creation of numerous towers in the south of the arrondissement, notably Les Olympiades.

Porte d'Italie is a station of the Paris Métro, serving Line 7 and Tramway Line 3a.The station opened on 7 March 1930 as part of Line 10 when it was extended from Place d'Italie to Porte de Choisy. The station was integrated into line 7 on 26 April 1931. In 2006, Paris Tramway Line 3 (now 3a) opened, with a stop at Porte d'Italie.

It is named after the Porte de Choisy, a gate in the nineteenth century Thiers wall of Paris, which led to Choisy-le-Roi.The station opened on 7 March 1930 as part of Line 10 when it was extended from Place d'Italie.
