Sekondi-Takoradi, a city comprising the twin cities of Sekondi and Takoradi. It is the capital of Sekondi – Takoradi Metropolitan District and the Western Region of Ghana. Sekondi-Takoradi is the region's largest city and an industrial and commercial centre, with a population of 445,205 people (2012).

The Ghana Secondary Technical School is a Science and Technology oriented high school located in Takoradi on the west coast of Ghana. It is the third oldest high school in Ghana - the oldest 'non-missionary' high school. The school was founded on 9 August 1909 in Accra as Accra Technical School, and, after the name had been changed to Government Technical School, it moved to its current site in Takoradi in 1939.

Gyandu Park is a multi-use stadium in Sekondi-Takoradi, Ghana. The stadium holds 15,000 spectators. It was renovated in 2008 and served as a training pitch for the African Cup teams in Group B.

A report by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in 2009 graded the town with having good drinking water and improved sanitation.
