Hike on the Curonian Spit

FSRU Independence, delivered in March 2014 is an LNG carrier designed as a floating LNG storage and regasification unit to be used as an LNG import terminal in Lithuania. The vessel can store 170,000 m3 (6,000,000 cu ft) of natural gas and can supply all of Lithuania's need for natural gas. The vessel started operating in the autumn of 2014.

Smiltynė (German: Sandkrug) is a part of Klaipėda city municipality in Lithuania. It is located on the northern tip of the Curonian Spit, next to a narrow strait which connects the Curonian Lagoon to the Baltic Sea. Across the 0.5-kilometre wide (0.31 mi) strait, on the Lithuanian mainland, is the port city of Klaipėda.

Klaipėda liquefied natural gas floating storage and regasification unit terminal or Klaipėda LNG FSRU (Lithuanian: Klaipėdos suskystintų gamtinių dujų terminalas) is a LNG terminal in the port of Klaipėda, Lithuania. It cost US$128 million to construct. The project operator is Klaipedos Nafta.The terminal started operating on 3 December 2014.
