Ouachita Baptist University (OBU) is a private, Baptist liberal arts college in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. The university's name is taken from the Ouachita (pronounced WAH-shi-tah) River, which forms the eastern campus boundary. It is affiliated with the Arkansas Baptist State Convention.

Henderson State University (HSU) is a public liberal arts university in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. Founded in 1890 as Arkadelphia Methodist College, it is Arkansas's only member of the Council of Public Liberal Arts Colleges. Henderson's curriculum is based on the belief that a liberal arts education is essential for all undergraduates; to that end, all of Henderson's majors require the completion of a core group of courses in the arts and sciences.
