The Cairo Opera House (Arabic: دار الأوبرا المصرية‎, Dār el-Opera el-Masreyya; literally "Egyptian Opera House"), part of Cairo's National Cultural Centre, is the main performing arts venue in the Egyptian capital. Home to most of Egypt's finest musical groups, it is located on the southern portion of Gezira Island in the Nile River, in the Zamalek district near downtown Cairo.

Agouza (Arabic: العجوزة‎, al-ʿajuza) is a small suburb of Giza district, in Giza Governorate, on the western bank of the Nile River. It is situated between 6th October Bridge and 15th May Bridge and is north of Dokki and south of Mohandesin suburbs. Because the British Council is situated there, many expats choose to live in its leafy and fairly quiet streets.

The Gezira Center for Modern Art, also known as the Egyptian Modern Art Museum, is an art museum for modern and contemporary art, located in Cairo, Egypt. It is part of the National Cultural Centre with the Cairo Opera House, on Gezira Island, just across the Nile on Qasr el-Nil Street west of downtown Cairo.

Al Ahly Sports Hall (Arabic: صالة النادي الاهلي بالجزيرة‎) is one of Al Ahly SC club's buildings, and known as a multi-purpose arena in Cairo, Egypt. It is currently used by the Al Ahly (basketball), Al Ahly (handball), and Al Ahly (volleyball) sections of the club.

The Ministry of Culture of Egypt is a ministry responsible for maintaining and promoting the culture of Egypt. The current minister is Ines Abdel-Dayem, former chairperson of the Cairo Opera and one of six women in the Egyptian Cabinet.

El Sawy Culture Wheel (Arabic: ساقية الصاوى‎) (transliterated: Sakkiat Al-Sawy) is an all-purpose, private cultural center, located on Gezira Island in the Zamalek district, central Cairo, Egypt. Named after its sole founder and owner, Abdelmoniem El-Sawy, it is considered one of the most important cultural venues in Egypt.

The Eyalet of Egypt was the result of the conquest of Mamluk Egypt by the Ottoman Empire in 1517, following the Ottoman–Mamluk War (1516–1517) and the absorption of Syria into the Empire in 1516. Egypt was administered as an eyalet of the Ottoman Empire (Ottoman Turkish: ایالت مصر‎‎ Eyālet-i Mıṣr) from 1517 until 1867, with an interruption during the French occupation of 1798 to 1801.

The Kingdom of Egypt (Arabic: المملكة المصرية‎, romanized: Al-Mamlaka Al-Miṣreyya) was the de jure independent Egyptian state established under the Muhammad Ali dynasty in 1922 following the Unilateral Declaration of Egyptian Independence by the United Kingdom. Until the Anglo-Egyptian treaty of 1936, the Kingdom was only nominally independent, since the British retained control of foreign relations, communications, the military and the Anglo-Egyptian Sudan.

Gezira is an island in the Nile River, in central Cairo, Egypt. The southern portion of the island contains the Gezira district, and the northern third contains the Zamalek district.Gezira is west of downtown Cairo and Tahrir Square, connected across the Nile by four bridges each on the east and west sides, the Qasr El Nil Bridge, 15th of May Bridge, Al-Gala'a Brigde and 6th October Bridge.

The Sultanate of Egypt (Arabic: السلطنة المصرية‎) was the short-lived protectorate that the United Kingdom imposed over Egypt between 1914 and 1922.
