Der Weg führt vom Bahnhof Giswil dem Sarnersee entlang. Das Gelände ist flach und das Panorama wunderschön. Man kann die Wanderung bereits in Sachseln beenden und auf die Eisenbahn umsteigen. Die Strecke ist auch zum joggen gut geeignet. Von Sachseln gehts weiter dem Uferweg entlang. Kurz vor Sarnen steigt man im Wald über Stock und Stein zur Lourdesgrotte empor, bevor man dann über Wiesen und Wälder nach Sarnen gelangt.
