This is all above the tree line. The path begins at the April Bowl trailhead, zig zagging up, then traversing across to the bowl. Depending on the time of year, there are up to 2 deep blue alpine lakes at the bowl. Continuing up the trail to the ridge in the spring through early summer, you’ll capture incredible views from above of a third lake at the next bench. The ascent is approximately 900 feet to the ridge, as it opens up to breathtaking views in every direction. Walk the ridge to Pride rock, Hatch peak, and drop down the loop back to the lakes, or you can hop on the connecting ridges. The options are vast! The loop itself is about 2 miles. The ascent from the bowl is fast and challenging, the descent- just the same but on loose shale. Hiking poles are nice to have, but not required. Enjoy!
