Introduction
Lakeside Linkage Preserve/Whitaker Trail is a 1.6 mile (3,500-step) route located near Lakeside, California, USA. This route has an elevation gain of about 419.8 ft and is rated as medium. Find the best walking trails near you in Pacer App.
Start this route at the entrance off Los Coches Road. The trail runs through a Coastal Sage Scrub habitat in the middle of a suburban area. The route heads north toward the historic stone Whitaker House, a local landmark. The trail has markers, but can be a bit confusing at times. Keep your head up and look for the landmark to help guide the way. There’s no shade and parts of the path are quite steep. I found this to be a bigger issue going downhill as opposed to uphill. The house at the end of the trail offers hilltop views in all directions.
