Zuerst führt der Weg von Luzern nach Emmen dem Fluss Emme entlang. Ab Emmen geht es durch den Wald und über den Adligenweiher hinauf nach Rothenburg. Danach folgt man dem Wanderweg durch Wald und Wiese parallel der Hauptstrasse entlang. Ab Sandblatten folgt ein stetiger Aufstieg nach Hildisrieden, welcher fast nicht enden will. Bei schönem Wetter geniesst man auf dieser erhöhten Lage eine schöne Rundsicht.
