Houten (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈɦʌutə(n)] (listen)) is a municipality in the Netherlands, in the province of Utrecht.

Everdingen is a former municipality in the Netherlands. Together with Zijderveld and Hagestein, it had been part of Vianen municipality since 1986. Since 2019 it is a part of the municipality Vijfheerenlanden. It enjoys a strategic position on the Lekdijk to the south of the river Lek. The eastern limits of Everdingen are marked by the Diefdijk, which also marks the municipal and provincial boundaries.

Houten is a railway station located in Houten, Netherlands. The station was opened on 1 November 1868 and is located on the Utrecht–Boxtel railway and the Houten - Houten Castellum tram line which closed on 14 December 2008. The services are operated by Nederlandse Spoorwegen. The station was closed between 1935 and 1982.

Heemstede (52°03′N 5°07′E) is a hamlet in the central Netherlands. It is located 3 km west of Houten, Utrecht. The hamlet is known for Heemstede Castle (1645).Until 1812, Heemstede was a separate heerlijkheid. Between 1818 and 1857 it was a part of Oud-Wulven, until that municipality merged with Houten.

Tull en 't Waal is a small village in the Dutch province of Utrecht. Until 1962, it was a separate municipality, but now it is a part of the municipality of Houten. Originally, there were two villages: 't Waal, at the site of the present village; and Tull, more to the south.The statistical district of Tull en 't Waal had a population of about 500 in 2004.

Vijfheerenlanden (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈvɛifˌɦeːrə(n)ˌlɑndə(n)]), literally "land with five Lords" is a municipality in the province of Utrecht in the Netherlands. The municipality was created on January 1, 2019 through the merger of the former municipalities of Vianen (Utrecht), Leerdam and Zederik (both South Holland).

Vreeswijk is a former village and municipality in the Dutch province of Utrecht. The municipality merged with Jutphaas in 1971, and is now the southern half of the town of Nieuwegein.The former village was located on the Lek River, near where it is crossed by the Merwede Canal. The old village centre on the locks has been preserved reasonably well.
