Botanical Garden "Nikitsky"

Nikita Botanical Garden - (Ukrainian: Нікітський ботанічний сад) is one of the oldest botanical gardens in Europe. It is located in Crimea, close to Yalta, by the shores of the Black Sea. It was founded in 1812 and named after the settlement Nikita in Crimea, Russian Empire. Its founder and first director was Russian botanist Christian Steven of Swedish descent.

Nikita (Ukrainian: Нікіта; Russian: Никита; Crimean Tatar: Nikita) is an urban-type settlement in Yalta Municipality of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, a territory recognized by a majority of countries as part of Ukraine and incorporated by Russia as the Republic of Crimea. It is known for the Nikitsky Botanical Garden named after the settlement.
