Muscat is a governorate of the Sultanate of Oman. Its provincial capital is Muscat City, which is the largest city and only metropolis of Oman. Muscat Governorate, commonly referred to as Muscat City, is the seat of government and contains Oman's first cruise and cargo port and oil port. Its population reached 1,288,330 as of May 2015.

Ruwi is the commercial hub and the main business district of Muscat, Sultanate of Oman.It is located about 5 km from the main residential localities of Al-Khuwair, Madinat Al Sultan Qaboos, Shati Al-Qurm and Al-Qurm. One of the oldest parts of Muscat Ruwi was known for its narrow streets and old buildings some of which were demolished in the 1970s to build commercial structures.

The Central Bank of Oman (CBO) was established in December 1974 and began operations on 1 April 1975. It replaced the Oman Currency Board as the principal currency authority in Oman. Currently it is headed by the deputy chairman of the board of governors Dr. H E Sultan bin Salim bin Said al Habsi .The Central Bank of Oman is responsible for maintaining the stability of the national currency the Omani Rial and ensuring monetary and financial stability in a deregulated and open financial system.

The Ministry of Education (MOE) is the governmental body in the Sultanate of Oman responsible for the educational system preceding university education (which is supervised by the Ministry of Higher Education).

Bayt al Falaj is a village in Muscat, in northeastern Oman. It was the site of Muscat's airport and main operating base for the country's air force (which opened in 1929), prior to the opening of Muscat International Airport at Seeb in 1973.It is also the location of the Sultan's Armed Forces Museum inside the old fort, built by the Sultan Said bin Sultan in 1845..

Naseem Garden is a large park between Seeb and Barka, near Muscat, Oman. It contains an aquarium, lake, waterfall, Arabic and Japanese gardens, a maze and a playground.

The Sultan's Armed Forces Museum is a military history museum, located in the 150-year-old Bait Al Falaj Fort, once the headquarters for Sultan Said bin Sultan's Armed Forces, located on Al Mujamma Street, in the Ruwi area near Muscat, Oman. It was graciously inaugurated in 1988 by His Majesty Sultan Qaboos, the supreme commander of the Armed Forces.

The Sts. Peter and Paul Church is a religious building that is located in Ruwi, in the city of Muscat, the capital and largest city of the Sultanate of Oman, south of the Arabian Peninsula. This is one of the two Catholic churches found in the city, the other being dedicated to the Holy Spirit in the sector of Ghala.
