Guayaquil (Spanish pronunciation: [ɡwaʝaˈkil] (listen)), officially Santiago de Guayaquil is the largest city in Ecuador, with 3,113,725 people in its metropolitan area. It is also the nation's main port. The city is the capital of Guayas Province and the seat of Guayaquil canton.Guayaquil is located on the west bank of the Guayas River, which flows into the Pacific Ocean at the Gulf of Guayaquil.

The Metropolitan Cathedral of Guayaquil (officially the Cathedral of Saint Peter) is a cathedral in the center of Guayaquil, Ecuador.The current cathedral is the successor of the cathedral that was Guayaquil's main cathedral at the time of the city's founding. The original cathedral was made of wood and located on Santa Ana Hill.

Malecón 2000 is the name given to boardwalk overlooking the Guayas River in the Ecuadorian port city of Guayaquil. An urban renewal project focusing on the old Simón Bolívar boardwalk, it stands along the west shore of the river for an approximate length of 2.5 km. (1.5 mi.) Several of the greatest historical monuments in the history of Guayaquil can be seen along its length, as well as museums, gardens, fountains, shopping malls, restaurants, bars, food courts, the first IMAX theater in South America, as well as boarding docks where several embarkations offer both daytime and nighttime tours up and down the Guayas River.

It is considered the most important of the city and one of the best in the country. It is located in the center of the city of Guayaquil, in the same building as the Municipal Library.

Samborondón is one of the cantons of Guayas province in Ecuador. It has three parishes, two urban parishes, one called La Puntilla and the other called Town of Samborondón (Cabecera cantonal) . There's another rural parish called Tarifa. La Puntilla's parish is one of the most exclusive residential and entertainment districts in Ecuador, boasting many Gated Communities (urbanizaciones cerradas) and several retail developments are located in the suburb.

Samborondón Canton is a canton of Ecuador, located in the Guayas Province. Its capital is the town of Samborondón. Its population at the 2001 census was 45,476.
