Red Mountain is a long ridge running southwest-northeast and dividing Jones Valley from Shades Valley south of Birmingham, Alabama. It is part of the Ridge-and-Valley region of the Appalachian mountains. The Red Mountain Formation of hard Silurian rock strata lies exposed in several long crests, and was named "Red Mountain" because of the rust-stained rock faces and prominent seams of red hematite iron ore.

Ramsay High School is a four-year magnet high school in Birmingham, Alabama. It is one of seven high schools in the Birmingham City School System and one of three International Baccalaureate schools in the Birmingham metropolitan area. Originally called Southside High School, it was later renamed in honor of industrialist Erskine Ramsay.

The Anderson Place Historic District, in Birmingham, Alabama, is a residential historic district which was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986, and the listing was expanded in 1991. It operates at an effective radiated power of 29.5 kilowatts. It is owned by iHeartMedia, Inc.. The station has studios at Beacon Ridge Tower in Birmingham and its transmitter is atop Red Mountain.

WZZK-FM (104.7 FM) is a country music formatted radio station licensed to Birmingham that serves northern and central Alabama. As of January 3, 2007, WZZK-FM is the flagship station of the Rick and Bubba radio network. It was the first FM station in Birmingham to switch to country music, and throughout much of the 1980s and 1990s was the top-rated radio station in Birmingham.
