Douai (French: [dwɛ]; Dutch: Dowaai; historically "Doway" in English) is a commune in the Nord département in northern France. It is a sub-prefecture of the department. Located on the river Scarpe some 40 kilometres (25 miles) from Lille and 25 km (16 mi) from Arras, Douai is home to one of the region's most impressive belfries.

The Bibliothèque municipale de Douai, now Bibliothèque Marceline Desbordes-Valmore (after the Douai-born poet Marceline Desbordes-Valmore) is a library in Douai, France. Founded in 1767, it was bombed on August 11, 1944. The library reopened in 1955, in a new building designed by the architect Maurice Coasnes.

The canton of Douai is an administrative division of the Nord department, northern France. It was created at the French canton reorganisation which came into effect in March 2015. Its seat is in Douai.It consists of the following communes:

The IMT Lille Douai or "École nationale supérieure des Mines-Télécom de Lille-Douai" (previously École des Mines de Douai or Mines Douai) is a public French National Graduate School of Engineering (Grande école d'ingénieurs). It is located in the Hauts-de-France region, shared between 2 campuses: the science campus ("Cité Scientifique") of the University of Lille (Villeneuve-d'Ascq, European Metropolis of Lille); and the city of Douai.

The Musée de la Chartreuse is an art museum in a former Carthusian monastery in Douai, France. It is the 'musée des Beaux-Arts' for the city.
