Pavas District, ninth of its kind in San José Canton, is the most populated of 470 districts in Costa Rica. The district comprises Tobías Bolaños International Airport, San José's domestic airport.

Colegio Humboldt (German: Humboldt-Schule) is a German international school in Pavas, San José, Costa Rica. It serves levels preschool through Abitur.It was founded in 1912. Though the school was originally created to serve the children of German nationals and those who apply are given preference, most of the students who attend are "Tico," that is, Costa Rican with no German background.

The British School of Costa Rica (Spanish: Colegio Británico de Costa Rica) is an independent, bilingual, international school in San José, Costa Rica.Founded in 1981 by the present Directors General, David and Liliana Lloyd, the school is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) and authorised by the Costa Rican Ministry of Education.
