The City of Parramatta Council, is a local government area located west of central Sydney in the Greater Western Sydney region. Parramatta Council is situated between the City of Ryde and Cumberland Council, where the Cumberland Plain meets the Hornsby Plateau, approximately 25 kilometres (16 mi) west of the Sydney central business district, in the state of New South Wales, Australia.

On 2 October 2015, Farhad Khalil Mohammad Jabar, a 15-year-old boy, shot and killed Curtis Cheng, an unarmed police civilian finance worker, outside the New South Wales Police Force headquarters in Parramatta, Australia. Jabar was subsequently shot and killed by special constables who were protecting the headquarters.

Alphacrucis College (AC, formerly Commonwealth Bible College and Southern Cross College) is a tertiary Christian liberal arts college. Lennox House is a heritage-listed residence at 39 Campbell Street, Parramatta, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. It was designed by David Lennox and possibly built by James Houison. It is also known as David Lennox's House. It was added to the New South Wales State Heritage Register on 2 April 1999.

The centre is owned and managed by The Westfield Group. In July 2014, the Westfield Group became two companies Scentre Group and Westfield Corporation. This shopping centre is now managed by Scentre Group.

St John's Cemetery, Parramatta, also known as St John's Anglican Cemetery, Saint John's Cemetery, and First Fleet Cemetery, is a heritage-listed cemetery at 1 O'Connell Street, Parramatta, City of Parramatta, New South Wales, Australia.The cemetery is highly significant as it was established in 1790 as a general burial ground for all religious denominations making it the oldest surviving European cemetery in Australia.
