Walk around Denain

The Battle of Denain was fought on 24 July 1712, as part of the War of the Spanish Succession. It resulted in a French victory under Marshal Villars against Dutch and Austrian forces under Prince Eugene of Savoy.

Denain (Picard: Dnain) is a commune in the Nord department in northern France. In 1999 Denain had a population of 20,360, on a land area of 11.52 km² (4.448 sq mi).It is the largest of 39 communes which comprise the association of communes of Porte du Hainaut, which in 1999 had a total population of 147,989.

The canton of Denain is an administrative division of the Nord department, northern France. Its borders were modified at the French canton reorganisation which came into effect in March 2015. Its seat is in Denain.It consists of the following communes:
