UP Oval

The University of the Philippines Diliman (Filipino: Unibersidad ng Pilipinas Diliman, also referred to as UPD, UP Diliman, or simply University of the Philippines or UP) is a coeducational, public research university located in Diliman, Quezon City, Philippines. It was established on February 12, 1949 as the flagship campus and seat of administration of the University of the Philippines System, the national university of the Philippines.

The Oblation (Filipino: Pahinungod, Oblasyon) is a concrete statue by Filipino artist Guillermo E. Tolentino which serves as the iconic symbol of the University of the Philippines. It depicts a man facing upward with arms outstretched, symbolizing selfless offering of oneself to his union.

The University of the Philippines College of Law (often referred to as UP Law) is the law school of the University of the Philippines Diliman. Formally established in 1911, it is the third oldest continually-operating law school in the Philippines and is generally considered to be one of the most prestigious in the country.

The College of Engineering of the University of the Philippines Diliman is the largest degree-granting unit in the U.P. System in terms of student population. The college is also known formally as UP COE, COE, and informally as Eng'g (pronounced "eng").The College of Engineering is composed of eight (8) departments, six of which are housed in the historic Melchor Hall along Osmeña Avenue in the U.

The Diliman commune was a uprising led by the students, faculty members and residents of the University of the Philippines Diliman, together with transport workers, on February 1–9, 1971, in protest of the three centavo increase in oil prices midway through the second term of the Marcos administration - about a year after the events of the First Quarter Storm and about a year before Marcos' eventual declaration of Martial Law.

The Jorge B. Vargas Museum & Filipiniana Research Center, located at the University of the Philippines Diliman campus, houses the collection of art, stamps and coins, library, personal papers and memorabilia of Jorge B. Vargas which he bequeathed to the university. It is under the management of the UP Diliman College of Arts and Letters.
