Hospital San Juan de Dios in Bogotá houses the National Institute of Immunology (Instituto Nacional de Inmunología) where important work on vaccines for malaria is carried out. This is one of the oldest serving hospitals in Latin America. It was founded in 1723. It initially consisted of three buildings of republican architectural style.

La Tertulia Museum, formerly known as the Museum of Modern Art La Tertulia, is an art museum in Cali, Colombia. It has an important collection of American and especially Colombian art. The museum consists of three buildings: a main gallery with 300 works by national and international artists and an art workshop for children; an arthouse theater known as the Cinemateca; and a building for printing and restoration workshops.

The St. Peter the Apostle Cathedral (Spanish: Catedral de San Pedro Apóstol) also called Metropolitan Cathedral of Cali is the main Catholic church in the city of Cali, Colombia. It is also the seat of the Archdiocese of Cali. It is considered the Architectural Heritage of Cali and Colombia declared a National Monument by resolution 002 of 12 March 1982.

Buenaventura Province was one of the provinces of Gran Colombia. It belonged to the Cauca Department which was created in 1824. In 1857 Cauca State was declared and the province was one of its provinces.
