Bishkek (Kyrgyz: Бишке́к, بىشکەک; IPA: [biʃˈkek]; Russian: Бишке́к, tr. Biškék, IPA: [bʲɪˈʂkʲek]), formerly Pishpek and Frunze, is the capital and largest city of Kyrgyzstan (Kyrgyz Republic). Bishkek is also the administrative centre of the Chuy Region. The province surrounds the city, although the city itself is not part of the province, but rather a province-level unit of Kyrgyzstan.

Ala-Too Square (Kyrgyz: Ала-тоо аянты, Ala-Too ayanty, [ɑlɑˈtoː ɑjɑnˈtɯ́]; Russian: Площадь Ала-Тоо, Ploshchad' Ala-Too, [ˈploɕːətʲ ɐlɐˈto]) is the central square in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.

Old Square (Kyrgyz: Эски Аянт; Russian: Старая Площадь) is a public square in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan.

The National Library of the Kyrgyz Republic is the legal deposit and copyright agency for Kyrgyzstan. It was founded in 1934. It has a collection of 6 million documents in 89 languages from around the world. Since 2005 the head of the Kyrgyz National Library is Dr. Jyldyz Bakashova.
