Eskdale, Cumbria

Eskdale is a glacial valley and civil parish in the western Lake District National Park in Cumbria, England. It forms part of the Borough of Copeland, and, in 2001 had a population of 264, increasing to 304 at the 2011 Census.One of the Lake District's most popular tourist attractions, the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway, runs through the valley, though along with other western valleys of the Lake District, Eskdale is notably quieter during the high summer season than the more accessible eastern areas.

It has a café and shop for passengers, along with a run-round loop, turntable and siding for trains. It is located next to the Whillan Beck, a tributary of the River Esk flowing from the isolated Burnmoor Tarn.

Beckfoot railway station is a railway station on the 15" gauge Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway in Cumbria. It is situated within a 1⁄2 mile (0.80 km) walk of the eastern terminus of the line, at Dalegarth station.The station is unstaffed at all times, and is only 20 metres (66 ft) long. It can be accessed either by steps or from, the road which crosses the line, east of the station.
