Duhok or Dohuk (Kurdish: دهۆک, Dihok‎; Syriac: ܢܘܗܕܪܐ‎, romanized: Nūhadrā; Arabic: دهوك‎, Dahūk) is the capital of the Duhok Governorate in Kurdistan Region. The city is encircled by mountains along the Tigris river. Duhok has a growing tourist industry. Its population has increased rapidly since the 1990s, as the rural population moved to the cities after villages were destroyed by the Iraqi army.

The American University of Kurdistan (AUK) (Kurdish: زانینگەها ئەمریکی یا کوردستانێ‎) is a public, not-for-profit special status, university in Duhok, Kurdistan Region of Iraq. It was founded in 2014 by Masrour Barzani, an alumnus of the American University in Washington, D.C., to provide comprehensive liberal arts education and to encourage cross-disciplinary research in the region.

The Dohuk Dam is an earth-fill embankment dam on the Dohuk River just north of Dohuk in Dahuk Governorate, Iraq. The dam was completed in 1988 with the primary purpose of providing water for irrigation. It is 60 m (197 ft) tall and can withhold 52,000,000 m3 (42,157 acre⋅ft) of water. The dam has a bell-mouth spillway with a maximum discharge of 81 m3/s (2,860 cu ft/s).

Dohuk District (Arabic: قضاء دهوك‎, romanized: qaḍāʾ Dahūk; Sorani Kurdish: قەزای دهۆک‎, romanized: qezayê Dihok) ; Syriac: ܪܘ݂ܣܬܵܩܵܐ ܕܗܘܿܟ‎ is a district in central Dohuk Governorate within the Kurdistan Region of northern Iraq. Administrative center is the city of Dohuk.
