Casco Viejo (Spanish for Old Quarter), also known as Casco Antiguo or San Felipe, is the historic district of Panama City. Completed and settled in 1673, it was built following the near-total destruction of the original Panamá city, Panamá Viejo in 1671, when the latter was attacked by pirates. It was designated a World Heritage Site in 1997.

The Palacio de las Garzas (Herons' Palace) is the governmental office and residence of the President of Panama. It receives its name because of herons roaming freely in the courtyard. The herons were first brought to the building in 1922, by former president Belisario Porras, at the suggestion of friend and famed Panamanian poet Ricardo Miro.

5 de Mayo is a Panama Metro station on Line 1. It was one of the metro network's first 11 stations, opened on 5 April 2014 and commencing operations the following day.The station is the closest to Panama City's Old Town. It is also located closest to the Metropolitan cathedral, Cinta Costera and Oceanographic museum.

The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Panamá (erected 28 August 1513 as the Diocese of Santa María de La Antigua del Darién) is a Metropolitan Archdiocese, and its suffragan dioceses include Chitré, Colón-Kuna Yala, David, Penonomé and Santiago de Veraguas, as well as the Territorial Prelature of Bocas del Toro.

Hospital Santo Tomás (HST) (English: Saint Thomas Hospital), is the largest Public hospital that the Panamanian Health Ministry has. Its long history goes as far as 1703.

Bicsa Financial Center, first named Ice Tower, then Star Bay Tower, is a 68-story skyscraper in Avenida Balboa, Panama City. Standing 267 m (876 ft) tall, it is the third tallest building in Panama City and fourth in Latin America.Bicsa Financial Center is also known for its distinctive glass colour (gold).

Following independence from Spain in 1821, Panamá State was one of the states of the Republic of Gran Colombia. Created 27 February 1855 under the name Estado Federal de Panamá (Federal State of Panamá). It later was recognized as Estado de la Federación in the constitution of the Granadine Confederation of 1858, and in the constitution of 1863 renamed as Estado Soberano (Sovereign State of Panamá) in the national and state constitutions of 1863.

Calidonia is a corregimiento within Panama City, in Panamá District, Panamá Province, Panama with a population of 19,108 as of 2010. Its population as of 1990 was 23,974; its population as of 2000 was 19,729.

San Felipe is a corregimiento within Panama City, in Panamá District, Panamá Province, Panama with a population of 3,262 as of 2010. Its population as of 1990 was 10,282; its population as of 2000 was 6,928.

The Afro-Antillean Museum (Spanish: Museo Afroantillano de Panamá) is a museum in Panama City, Panama. It features relics from the history of West Indian Afro-Panamanians, including their contributions to the building of the Panama Canal and its railway. The museum was established on 23 December 1980, and is housed in a former Christian chapel built in 1909 by Barbadian immigrants who held Protestant services as the Christian Mission Chapel.
