Introduction
Camillus Park- Green Trail is a 0.4 mile (1,000-step) route located near Camillus, New York, USA. This route has an elevation gain of about 65.6 ft and is rated as medium. Find the best walking trails near you in Pacer App.
Camillus Park is a 35 acre community park nestled between West Genesee St, Knowell Rd, and Milton Ave in the Orchard Village neighborhood of Camillus, NY. It can be accessed from Pool Rd via West Genesee St (between the Octagon House and St Joseph’s church) and Fox Dr via Knowell Rd. The park has a large parking lot with handicap parking. The park features a modern Splash Pad, outdoor workout facility, and a “Little Library” as well as a new play ground, lots of green space for running, a pavilion, picnic tables grills and benches. The main trail head at Camillus Park is near the parking lot although there are other entrances into the woods at various points from the connecting neighborhood. The wooded trails are visited mainly by the local community, aging from the young to the elderly. There are three main trails that vary in gradient and difficulty. There is also a trail that loops around most of the existing perimeter intersecting each trail at different points. There are other trails, some unmarked. The trails are short to medium length and all under one mile. They are mostly wood-chipped with the maintenance trail as well as the beginning of the entry trail by the Splash Pad having small pebbles. The trails are well kept and well marked. Dogs are welcome in this park (must be leashed). Dogs are not allowed in the Splash Pad area. There are some wet spots which are mosquito breeding grounds. I highly suggest using mosquito repellent during warm wet months! The Green Trail is 0.2 miles and cuts through the middle of the woods, passing the pavilion, through the picnic area, and T’s into the Red Trail. It’s a relatively flat, easy walk by foot or adult bike, moderate by child’s bike, stroller, or wheelchair. First half is moderate by wheelchair, second half is challenging by wheelchair. It is peaceful and quiet, teaming with nature. I stopped and watched a red bellied woodpecker working on a tree. This is a great little wooded trail system enjoyed by the young and old, dog walkers, and those who want a quick hike during the lunch break. Two thumbs up. 👍🏽👍🏽
