Elmwood Park & Trails Behind Corcoran High School Introduction
Elmwood Park & Trails Behind Corcoran High School is a 1 mile (2,500-step) route located near Syracuse, New York, USA. This route has an elevation gain of about 203.4 ft and is rated as medium. Find the best walking trails near you in Pacer App.
Elmwood Park is a 65 acre community park bounded by Glenwood Ave, Elmwood Ave, Fairfield Ave, and Craddock Street on the southwest side of Syracuse. The natural beauty of Elmwood Park lured me in and even though my phone died, losing my GPS and cutting short my Pacer recording session, I lingered there, listening and watching a cardinal, watching squirrels scurry as they collected acorns, watching 10 ducks swim about bobbing under the crystal clear steam water for food, and watching the water spill over the waterfall. “The park was developed with respect for the picturesque qualities of its rugged landform, forested slopes and natural water features.” The picturesque bridges, walls, weirs, stairs, and curbs are of rustic stone and reminiscent of its past as a resort in the 1920’s. Its rich history can be found on its website, and on an info board at the park entrance at Glenwood Ave. Roads throughout are paved and stroller and wheelchair friendly. The natural trails are not marked but are in good shape since they are used by the cross-country team at Corcoran High School. Great place for a jog, hike or walk. The park is dog and child friendly, with lots of room to run around and roam (although I suggest only using it during daylight hours). The baseball field with bleaches is home to a Little League team. The park benches along the stream invite you to take a break from your stroll, sit for a while and ponder life. Something here for everyone. Two thumbs up 👍🏽👍🏽
