At the 2016 Census, Brunswick East had a population of 11,504.Bordered generally by Lygon Street and Holmes Street in the west; the Merri Creek in the east adjoining Northcote; Park Street, Nicholson Street and Glenlyon Road in the south adjoining Carlton North and Fitzroy North; and Moreland Road in the north adjoining Coburg.

Rushall Garden is a community garden situated on former railway land in Fitzroy North, Victoria in inner suburban Melbourne, Australia. It is licensed to and managed by The North Fitzroy Community Gardens Group. Membership of the NCGG is open to any member of the community, but a condition of the license is that priority in allocation of garden plots is given to residents of the Cities of Yarra and Darebin.

North Fitzroy station is a former railway station that was located on the Inner Circle railway line in Melbourne, Australia. It was located east of Nicholson Street, on Rae and Park streets. The station was opened on 8 May 1885, and was originally known as Nicholson Street.A branch line headed south from North Fitzroy station towards Fitzroy Station.

The Merri Creek is a waterway in southern parts of Victoria, Australia, which flows through the northern suburbs of Melbourne. It begins near Wallan north of Melbourne and flows south for 70 km until it joins the Yarra River at Dights Falls. The area where the creek meets the river was traditionally the location for large gatherings of the Wurundjeri people and is suspected to have been the location for one of the earliest land treaties in Australia between Indigenous Australians and European settlers.

North Carlton is a former railway station that was located on the Inner Circle railway line in Melbourne, Australia. It was located on Lang Street. The station was opened on 8 May 1885, and was originally known as Langridge-street and later Lang Street. It was closed to passengers in 1948, except for special events such as the 1956 Melbourne Olympics.
