You stop in lay by about 500m prior to Shillito woods Car Park (signed). See the photo of the entrance gate.
There is a white gate and a gate to enter.
Go to the next gate,go in and follow the path to the left along the old bank of the reservoir.
Beautiful views of the moorland can be see from every angle.
This is an area of special scientific interest. Some mornings you will find people ringing birds here. They are friendly and will let anyone watch their work and answer questions.
You drop down towards the water to cross a stream- there are stepping stones.
Keep to the path and turn right as you go through the next gate.
Terrain is rough but nothing a pair of boots or wellies can’t handle.
The reservoir is a haven for birds and the British Trust for Ornithology often survey here .
