Hoorn [ˈɦoːr(ə)n] (listen) is a municipality and a town in the Netherlands, in the province of North Holland. It is located on the Markermeer, 35 kilometres (22 mi) north of Amsterdam, and acquired city rights in 1357. Hoorn had a population of 73,004 in 2019. The area of the municipality is 53.25 km2 (20.56 sq mi) of which 33.00 km2 (12.74 sq mi) consists of water, mainly the Markermeer.

Zwaag (West Frisian: Swaegh) is a town in the Netherlands. It is located in the municipality of Hoorn, the province of North Holland and the region of West Friesland. On January 1, 2007, Zwaag had 3214 inhabitants.

Risdam is a northwestern neighborhood of the city of Hoorn, Netherlands. It had a population of around 18,000. The name derives from the name Risdam Rijsdam, a dike in the historic waterway along the Keern. The northern part of the Rijsdam itself was formerly called Keern. Today it is split into the areas of Risdam-Noord and Risdam-Zuid.
