Hackney Downs

Clapton Pond is a pond and garden at Clapton in the London Borough of Hackney.The name ‘Clapton’ or ‘farm on the hill’ is derived from the Old English words ‘clop’, meaning a lump or hill, and ‘ton’, meaning a farm.For centuries the land was owned by the Bishops of London, and occupied by tenant farmers who grew hay and food for the City of London.

Hackney Downs is a park and an area of historically common land in the Lower Clapton area of the London Borough of Hackney. The name is sometimes also used to apply to the neighbourhood around the park.

St John at Hackney is a Grade II* listed Anglican Church in the heart of the London Borough of Hackney with a large capacity of around 2,000. It was built in 1792 to replace Hackney's medieval parish church, of which St Augustine's Tower remains, at the edge of its churchyard. The church faces north towards Clapton Square, with the nearby Sutton House and Hackney Central station also accessible from the churchyard to the east and south, respectively.

Newcome's School was a fashionable boys' school in Hackney, then to the east of London, founded in the early 18th century. A number of prominent Whig families sent their sons there. The school closed in 1815, and the buildings were gutted in 1820. In 1825 the London Orphan Asylum opened on the site. Today the Clapton Girls' Academy is located here.

The A107 is an A road in London, England. It runs from Whitechapel to Hackney.Known as Mare Street for much of its length, it crosses the Regent's Canal near the Ash Grove Bus Garage.

Clapton Girls' Academy (formerly Clapton Girls Technology College) is a secondary school with academy status located in Lower Clapton, in the London Borough of Hackney, London, England.The school is situated north of Hackney Central on the A102. It is a few hundred metres west of Homerton University Hospital.

Banner Repeater is an artist run reading room and project space, on Hackney Downs railway station, Dalston Lane, London. It is named after the "banner repeater", a type of railway signal used in Great Britain.The reading room holds a collection of artist's books and other printed material, for both browsing and purchase.

The Petchey Academy is an academy on the site of the former Kingsland School in Dalston, East London.It is named after businessman, philanthropist and former football club director and owner Jack Petchey, and has been sponsored by the Jack Petchey Foundation. It is a comprehensive high school and sixth form for boys and girls aged from 11 to 18.

The Pembury Estate is a housing estate in the London Borough of Hackney in East London next to the Hackney Downs. The Pembury Estate consists of two sections of the housing estate: Old Pembury and New Pembury. Old Pembury consists 24 walk-up blocks. New Pembury consists of multiple 1960s styled bungalows.

Clapton Square is the second largest garden square in the London Borough of Hackney, located in Lower Clapton, Clapton. It is lined by buildings on three sides. Its Conservation Area designated in 1969 – extended in 1991 and 2000 – takes in a larger green space separated by a stretch of open road: St John's Gardens.
