Holyrood Park is a hilly public park with a 5 miles radius close to Edinburgh Old Town. It is 251m high at its peak where Arthur’s Seat is.
A rather challenging hike/walk up for first timers actually. It has volcanic cliff faces, steep pathways, mini lochs, and a hillside ruin (St. Anthony's Chapel). It has both the rugged and natural landscape iconic across Scotland. A freshwater Loch, Duddingston Loch is about midway up the top.
It takes about half-an-hour from the Queen's Drive on the inner ring road to the top. The top offers excellent views of Edinburgh. Whether it’s a run or a walk it’s a definitely great work out.
