Walk out from Hathersage village gaining 1000 feet. You pass North Lees Hall, thought to be the inspiration for Thornfield Hall in Jane Eyre.
Once at the top walk along the edge past High Neb. Drop down past discarded millstones and towards the Long Causeway, thought to be an old Roman Road.
Join the main road, The Dale, for a while passing Higger Tor. A footpath to the right takes you back to the village. A ‘beware of the bull' sign guides you.
Towards the the end of the walk visit Little John’s grave in the churchyard before walking back into Hathersage village.
Full waterproof clothing should be taken as the weather can change at the top.
