Park at the visitors' center on the Granny White Pike entrance to Radnor Lake and prepare for a lovely walk! Heading up the trail behind the visitors' center gives you a gentler route than the hill on Otter Creek Road. And, you can cross the dam for a beautiful view of Radnor Lake, with accompanying information boards on the lake's avian wildlife. Turn left at the end of the dam to start up the road, which is shady and cool most parts of the year when the trees are in leaf. Wildflowers run rampant.
Be on the lookout not only for birds, squirrels, and chipmunks but snakes, millipedes, and deer! Turtles bask and pobblebonks croak in the small ponds opposite the lake; you can stop at the various lookout points for a telescoping view across the lake. If a Ranger is out viewing the bald eagles or cormorants, he'll often let you take a look, too!
Don't forget your camera! Gorgeous shots of the lake, the wildlife, the forest, and the flowers are all waiting for the attentive photographer.
