Begins at Reed Lakes trailhead- shares the same main trail. Well maintained path that drops into the valley. Views are beautiful, trail runs along Reed creek. You’ll come to lower Reed lake, and see beaver dams along the way. Take the trail that turns left and up, while Reed Lake hikers continue on the main trail. Begin ascent, which runs along boulder fields. Cables run down, from the old mine. Views of the mountains and hanging valleys are spectacular. Collapsed buildings, barrels and other items are found frequently due to the abandoned mine. If you look up along the mountain to the left once up at the large midden, you’ll see a retired mine shaft a few hundred feet above. Marmot and Ptarmigan! ❤️
