The Kilns, also known as C. S. Lewis House, is the house on the outskirts of Headington Quarry, Oxford, England, where the author C. S. Lewis wrote all of his Narnia books and other classics. The house itself was featured in the Narnia books. Lewis's gardener at The Kilns, Fred Paxford, is said to have inspired the character of Puddleglum the Marshwiggle in The Silver Chair.

Risinghurst is an outlying residential area of Oxford, England, just outside the Eastern Bypass Road which forms part of the Oxford ring road. It is about 1 mile (1.6 km) east of the centre of Headington and 3 miles (4.8 km) east of Oxford city centre.It is part of the Risinghurst and Sandhills civil parish and is typical of housing estates built between the wars to house an increasingly prosperous working class who were moving into new urban centres—in this instance to take advantage of the burgeoning motor industry in Oxford.

It consists of Risinghurst and Sandhills, two areas in the east of Oxford, east of the junction of the A40 and the A4142. It is elongated, excludes green space to the north, south and east and is approximately l-shaped, traversing two dual carriageways at right angles; these are crossed by a bridge and a subway and the density of the area is relatively homogenous.
