The Monument to the Unknown Hero (Serbian: Споменик Незнаном јунаку / Spomenik Neznanom junaku) is a World War I memorial located atop Mount Avala, south-east of Belgrade, Serbia, and designed by the sculptor Ivan Meštrović. Memorial was built in 1934-1938 on the place where an unknown Serbian World War I soldier was buried.

Monument to the Soviet War Veterans is a monument located on the Avala mountain near Belgrade, Serbia. It is dedicated to members of the Soviet military delegation who were killed in an airplane crash on the Avala on October 19, 1964. The delegation was flying to Belgrade to attend the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Liberation of Belgrade on October 20, 1944, since Red Army forces had taken part in the liberation.

The Avala Tower (Serbian: Авалски торањ, romanized: Avalski toranj) is a 204.68 m (672 ft) tall telecommunications tower located on Mount Avala, in Belgrade. The original tower was finished in 1965, but was destroyed on 29 April 1999, during the NATO bombing of Yugoslavia. The tower's reconstruction commenced on 21 December 2006 and it was officially opened on 21 April 2010.

Avala (Serbian Cyrillic: Авала, pronounced [âv̞ala]) is a mountain in Serbia, overlooking Belgrade. It is situated in the south-eastern corner of the city and provides a great panoramic view of Belgrade, Vojvodina and Šumadija, as the surrounding area on all sides is mostly lowlands. It stands at 511 metres (1,677 ft) above sea level, which means that it enters the locally defined mountain category just by 11 m (36 ft).

Žrnov (Serbian Cyrillic: Жрнов) or Žrnovan (Жрнован) was a medieval fortress on the highest top of the Avala Mountain, at 511 metres (1,677 ft), in Belgrade, Serbia. At the top Ancient Romans built an outpost, and later the Serbs expanded it into a fortress. It was completely demolished in 1934 to make the way to the Monument to the Unknown Hero.
